Hi all,
I'm new to domestic electrics and I have a question for all those time served experts out there.....How can you tell what type of primary supply protective device you have fitted if it's not "written on the tin".
Ta in advance.

You can't.

If it is not displayed on the fuse holder, then you would have to note down that the information was not available.

If you are not going to change it and you need to know for your certs, RF Lighting advice is a good one. If you can read the fuse value, you probably know that if it is 5A, 15A, 30A it would be BS1361 and 6A, 10A, 16A, 25A, 32A would be BS88 the only value that repeats in both BS's is 20A.

umm your sequences stop at way below the value of most service fuses (which is what I assume the OP is talking about). I was under the impression that at least 60A and 100A fuses existed in both BS1361 and BS88

and of course you often can't tell the rating of the service fuse either.

I read again the post and you are right, sorry my mistake, I do not know why I thought it was not, for main fuses.
