if your only doing a couple of points the plastic tools should be ok. consider them disposable though and don't moan when they break after a few points.
if your doing more than that then get the proper tool.
most extention sockets sold now to diyers have screw terminals but if you are doing terminations to the NTE5 bottom plate or to existing extention wiring you are likely to have to work with the IDC system.
