Builder wont sign a contract for job

maybe if you shared the details of the contract then the reason a builder will not sign may be obvious or not of course

Actually this last builder came round again and talked me through all of the work and we're paying him after its done. Three days of work so far and he's proving himself to be very clean and tidy and he really knows his stuff. We didn't sign a contract but if we continue as we've been going I think it'll be ok. He even brings his own teabags and milk despite us telling him to help himself to ours.

Glad to see it's going well.

I think contracts are a good idea and if a 'builder' has ever done any other work than 'working for himself', then he'd know that contracts are the standard.

It's always a good idea to have a contract as it saves the 'I didn't agree to that' and the 'you didn't say that' - as when it's in a contract, yes he did and yes you did.
