hi, iam wanting to build a porch on the front of my house, i wish to build
a small porch approx 2 metres by 1 metre, around 8 bricks high then
pvc windows all round with a door , and a pitched tiled roof, my
question is can i have a single skin brick wall , and if so will it be strong
enough for the weight of the windows + roof , i am limited for room
so building a double wall may not be possible , the inside of the wall i
would use damp proof plaster board, and the roof would be secured to
the house , with a bearer and ceiling joist, can anyone give me any help or advice .

No problems regards strength of a half brick wall.

The only issues are with condensation damp. Keep it well ventilated, maybe even an air brick or two. ;)

thanks for your help , will fit a couple of air bricks , another question
for you ,my current base is tarmac ,so iam going to remove this and
replace with concrete , should i fit a damp proof membrane under
the concrete, and also if you have any other helpfull tips i would be
very grateful, thanks.

Yes use a dpm.

Don't make the roof overly steep on pitch, 30 degrees looks good or 35 deg' if you are using plain tiles.

Don't forget somewhere to drain the gutter.
