Hi,

I'm going to be building a step from brick ands paving slabs to go outside
the door of my new kitchen.

The problem is that the DPC will be far less than 150mm from the top to the
step, it might be as little as 50mm.

So I think all I can do is have a gap (i'm thinking about 15mm) at the back between the step and the house.

Is this what is normally done ? Or is the some other solution that I have missed?

Many thanks in Advance
Steve.

If it is a step then as a rule it will be outside a door, hence the splash problems will be negated by the fact that there is a door there and not brickwork to soak.

You will be better off keeping the top step as tight to the sill as possible.
