Building Line

Hi, I am considering putting a new house between myself and a neighbour. My house sets off at a 45 degree angle to my neighbours so any new dwelling would need to line through with the existing building line.

My questions is this: Does the building line "rule" apply to the rear of a house?

Because the new house is set off at 45 degrees it also needs to extend past the existing house to the rear.
