hi

I'm about to embark on building my own wooden stair case and having never built one before was wondering if anyone on here would be able to point me in the right direction as to where i could pick up a few tips.

many thanks in advance

do you have more than basic woodworking skills !!!

a decent router and cutters some chisels including gouges!!!!

you will also need an acurate chopsaw/mitre saw and several other tools :D

i have basic wood work skills and access to every tool imaginable!! however this sounds like it might not be enough!!!!!!!!

i am by no means a chippy, but let me ask you this, why do so many companies make stairs? if it were that easy would not more people do it?

That is assuming this is stairs as in from ground to first floor?

I would call myself an experienced chippie and have made a couple of staircases, but only due to the complexities of the jobs in question. They can be a pain with lots of head scratching involved and are rarely viable when compared to the price from a specialsits joiners.
if you are planning to make a fairly standard flight then it probably isn't worth your while. have a search for stairplan they are the guys I use all the time.
