Am considering to buy a ground floor flat, conversion. Should I do a flat survey or building survey.

Depends on the condition/age/construction etc. And the magic word was missing from your post.
Flat is on the ground floor of a conversion. Needs total refurbishing. 30 year old flat. When do I consider a flat versus a building survey?
Some nationalities surprisingly do not use manners in the way that we do. Perhaps they also think we gat paid or have nowt else better to do but answer their posts.

Me personally couldn't give a toss, my only advice is if you like the property and the mortgage company are happy to fund it after they've had their surveyor have a gander then go for it.
Sorry my knowledge on this is limited as being a builder I don't bother with surveyors, worst case scenario for me would be to knock it down and rebuild it.
