I've fitted a double oven to a standard B&Q tall lader unit. I've placed the shelf about a third of the way up from the bottom of the unit (fixed in place by the dowel/cam arrangement) and slid the oven in on this shelf.

I have two questions.

1, is this shelf likely to be strong enough to support a double oven?

2, should there be a ventilation gap between the bottom of the oven and the shelf and there be an alternative method of support such as angle-iron brackets?

Many thanks.
Keith.

The shelf should be strong enough to take the weight, as long as you did not damage the shelf when placing the oven on it.
As far as airflow, you need to read the oven manufactures instructions. Ovens are usually vented with air in at the bottom passing up the back & venting from the top of the cabinet. The fitting instructions will tell you what minium spacing is required.
