I'm looking to install a built under electric double oven in place of a single model. Proline brand 13 months old and knackered, hardly used and Comet would not entertain warranty!!! despite letters to their md/customer service etc

The current oven is 600 wide x 600 high. A shelf/cover plinth has been added to the bottom of the carcase to bring the depth of the unit from 700 to 600 to accommodate the current oven.

There is a no. of double electric ovens out in the market place. They all seem to be around 700 - 720mm deep. My question is will the oven still fit the existing space? I will obviously be removing the bottom shelf to gain back the 700mm. I'm worried that the oven may not fit, as the internal dimension on the carcase is 700mm, and there is an electric hob above which may interfere?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Look under the sale of goods act

Items may have a one year manufacturers warrenty but depending on item and agreement of sale you have a right to expect an appliance to last for a certain period of time.

Sale agreement takes into account
cost
condition (showroom model, any faults known 'marks/minor defects)
use

Personally I would expect an oven to last longer than 13 months, using the sale of goods act I have succesfully helped someone get free parts for a 5 year old microwave that developed a fault.

many thanks for that, I was amazed Comet wouldn't entertain an foc repair. I wrote three well constructed letters. And too true an electric oven should last longer than 13 months! thanks again for taking the trouble to provide advice and links etc.
