Bulger killer charged with child porn offences

For the record, I have said my piece about this evil little sh it when we last discussed the toe rag. Living so close to where he lived and committed his evil deed opens too many raw wounds in me so I will not participate in this discussion any further. But thank you Blas for posting about it. Please feel free to continue.

REMOVE PROBATION, REMOVE TV, RADIO, etc etc. Make them earn their keep.
Quite. Given the need for cutbacks, I can't help but feel that prison is a good place to start. How about limited access to electricity, very cheap food, no sky tv or similar, and limited access out of their cells. In that way we could let the number of guards reduce through natural wastage and make huge savings in running costs.

Given that we import loads of cheap clothes from sweatshops, I see a perfect place here for free labour. Nothing made to sell, no food. Simple.

If you don't like it, don't commit crimes.

When the government go on about prisons being overcrowded etc, I can see the case for building more prisons. Obviously early release isn't working. What they should do is give criminals, sentences that match the severity of the crime. When a judge sentences some scumbag to 10 yrs, this should mean ten years. No less. Make prisons a hard place to be, so that anyone who goes there, doesn't want to go back inside once they come out.
I won't hold my breath though.

I am on the dole, and as I haven't got a job within 6 months, I was forced to do community service, alongside people that had commited horrendous crimes, what's my crime? Being laid off? But working in a charity shop, or a building site, alongside someone that SHOULD be in jail. These people had their liabilities, and still took the pi**, by stealing, or disappearing, but if I took too long for my dinner hour, I had my money stopped, but had committed NO crime. And it was proper sweatshop conditions, shouted at, ordered about, treated like a 3rd rate citizen, but the drunk drivers, ABH people were treated as gems. This country sucks.

That's appalling. It's not your fault (I assume) that you're not in work, but it's entirely their fault that they're in prison.

It's been demonstrated time and time again that the system is far too ready and willing to "go for" the soft target and sidestep the bigger issues.
