Hello, I have just completed on a 1910 terrace house, the house has been a rental property of years The kitchen floor is concrete and is quite bumpy, I haven't measured it, but I would guess the highest to lowest is about 10-15mm. I pulled back the Lino and there is evidence of damp / black mould, however there is no smell of damp.
Before lifting the Lino my plan was to chisel down the very highest bits, then pour a self levelling screed.
Should I be worried about this damp? how can I confirm if this is historic damp, or an ongoing issue?
My current plan is to dispose of the Lino, give it all a good scrub with bleach, and then let it dry for a few days.
what then? buy a damp meter?
if it is damp, can I buy a waterproof seal to apply before/after the self level? or am I in for an expensive excavation laying a new DPC and slab?
