Dear DIYNOT. I am new to this forum but I do read a lot on here. This is my first post.
I have a bungalow that has damp inside all around all external walls. I have recently installed gas and central heating so needed to install cavity gas meter box. In doing this, I realised that all the rendering is blown from ground level upto about a foot above this slate DPC. The damp inside mirrors this failure in the render outside.
Incidentally, I installed the heating myself with an intergas combi with 6 rads. Total cost of system £1800.00. I am very happy with this. But thats another story.
The DPC was totally breached so I have removed the render under the DPC to stop the bridging.
What should I do now ? It is autumn. Shall I leave this over winter and get the house re-rendered in spring ?
I am assuming this will allow the house to breath more and hopefully it will gradually dry out rather than acting like a sponge ?
Here are the pictures.
Many thanks for your help. I have lots of interesting subjects to add to the forum for weeks to come.
Cliff and Liz.
