Burner of Chemicals

I've just had a nice new set stair spindle and rails fitted which I'm going to varnish.

I now need to strip off all the paint back to the wood at the lower part of our staircase do I use a chemical paint stripper or a heat gun?

Which method would give the best result for varnishing?

personally i prefer the heat gun over chemicals. Bit of fumes but not too bad. chemicals are awful !!

Totally agree. those chemical strippers can seriously do your head in unless it`s a small piece outside in the air
