could anyone explain why burner pressures decline? assuming piping , meter and gas valve filter not clogged up why do they decline. i find myself constantly adjusting burner pressures whilst servicing? curious as ive never had it explained. other engineers dont seem to know either!!!!!!

HI

burner pressure should not need adjusting all the time.i do servicing everyday and i find that most of the time pressure remains same.
1.are you dealing with same types of boilers?
2.does this happen in one particular area ?

I find some older boiler if left for years without adjustment can lose a mB or two but nothing major

Apart from some older Vaillants which covered the burner pressure with a lead seal and then had to do a recall when they drifted seriously upwards!

When I first encountered that I called them to ask if it was a common problem!

Of course I got the reply that it was the first they had heard of it. A few months later a recall for that problem!!!!

The obvious being wear and tear in meter/govemor and appliance gas valve/ injectors. Vibratiom in system will also cause it screw moves very gradually over time, i have seen fire restrictor elbows screw right down with work been carried out with jack hammers outside a property

the screw in the cap has a drive in it that should engage with slot in inner screw to prevent this problem, although I have also come across it a few times

KIT 32 that BG used to supply always had the drive /slot but a lot of the cheaper copies never had the drive/slot to stop this

fair enough, never seen one without, but being BG we only use the best

I have never seen one without.

But if you dont screw the closing screw down with the top cap then it might be too far down to engage.

Agile with you still being relatively inexperienced give it time you will come across one. And thanks for the tip on put cap screw on , have you ever tried to teach your granny how to such eggs.
