Undoubtably a cost issue. He probably wanted to hit the ground running and chose a limited, relatively low cost initiative to show he is different.

Again, quite so, an I've heard no-one else (let alone 'government') suggest otherwise. However, eric seems to think that the VAT cut would/will only be of befit for those with (PV and) batteries ....

.... So to zero rate electric gets around the problem, but only if they guarantee it will stay that way, as people are unlikely to fork out on batteries, if zero VAT is short-lived.

Great news! My wife and I went out for tea last night to celebrate - I had garlic bread starter, she had soup, I had fish and chips and then the £45 was gone so we went home.

Anyway, looks like the plug in solar in now legal so I'm off to the middle of Lidl.

I am sometimes known to make/think of daft comments sometins in reply to folks - I have a weird sense of humour!

I am particularly fond of "False Logic " although some of those conspiracy theorist seem to take a fact or apparent fact then apply false logic and quote it as gospel.
Problem is when that lot actually do come up with some issue that needs it then no one witll believe them cos of all that carp they spout -cry wolf too often!

Have I missed it? Thought we were still waiting? I want to see how the G98 changes, to my mind plug and play should be just that, no forms to submit, it is after all portable equipment.

However, to be paid for export, you will need a second MPAN number, so you will need to register to get that number, but when you move to next property it seems no requirement to register that the equipment has been removed.

As @ebee suggests, it is at your conveyance, as long as less than 28 days.

A fair proportion of the people 'at the lowest end of pay' I've spoken to about this are not very happy with that approach. Many of them have a lot of pride, and hence are unhappy with the idea of their being 'parasitic' or 'subsidised', getting all the benefits which society offers but without contributing a penny towards that (hence leaving the tax paid by others to 'support' them).

Hence, those people (and their pride) would be much happier with higher incomes, but paying at least some income tax (i.e. 'paying their way'), even if that resulted in little additional money going into their pockets. However, as government has discovered, simply raising the 'minimum wage' is not the answer, since many of the lowest paid are employed by small businesses which simply cannot afford to pay more. Hence if those businesses are forced to pay more to their low-paid employees that they continue to employ, they have to sack some of the others!

I can, it seems work for nothing, or minium wage, but nothing in between.

There used to be jobs where you were paid to be there, but did very little, be it a night watchman, or a shop assistance in a shop with few customers, the latter was good for students, they could study most of the time, then break of study to serve the odd customer, these jobs have gone.

I can't compete with output with a young 50-year-old, but that does not mean my output is zero, however the minium wage means only job I can get is volunteering.

The problem is the dole, sickness benefit etc, and all the rules surrounding it. So if someone refuses a job with low wages, they can lose their benefit even when the job pays less than they would get. So we need a category of semi-job, where you don't get minium wage but also don't get benefits totally stopped.

I am classed as 20% disabled, if an employer could pay me 80% of the normal wage for the job, I could have likely found a job, but why would any employer want to employ me when I only have 80% of normal output, but pay me full wage?

However, the removal of VAT from electric will clearly help all, but it will help those with an EV and parking, solar batteries, storage radiators and heat pumps far more than the rest, so it will likely help those with money more than those without it. So the guy in a terraced house on the main road with no parking, will get very little compared with the guy in a mansion with solar panels on house and garage massive batteries, and large EV.

The guy in the mansion with large electricity usage but no solar, EV or a heat pump will also benefit more. Very difficult, if not impossible, to make it otherwise. It doesn't hinge on solar/batteries.
