Hi all, after a bit of help please as follows

I have an Alpha CD24C boiler (yeah i know they are crap but i cannot afford to get a new one)

The transformer constantly makes an annoying buzzing noise so I insterted some rubber washers between the transformer and the metal it attaches to but to no avail! It still makes a buzzing noise, incidentaly I tested the transformer and the noise is only made when it is touching the metal, so the transformer is ok and doesnt need replacing.

basically the noise is made by the metal vibrating(?)

how can I stop this noise? i.e is there a rubber mat or something i can put between the transformer and the metal? bearing in mind i have but rubber washers in already but they havent worked!

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Are you sure it's not the laminations that are buzzing and the casing is just exacerbating it?

If the Tx is wound round an iron core it could probably be the laminations are slightly slack. Other than taking it to a motor/transformer repair shop and asking them to dip it in varnish and bake it there is not a lot you can do.
A rubber pad between the Tx and base plate may help but whatever you do DO NOT try to deaden the sound by wrapping anything around it. It will overheat and burn out.

The transformer is ok as if it is held away from the metal it doesn't make a sound at all!?
