my 2006 1 series had its clutch replaced a month ago and today i've noticed when stopping the engine at stand still a strange shudder and flapping noise comes from under the car. pain but guy who did it is away so cant contact him

Any ideas. Is it safe to drive as it seems only when stopping?

Thanks

When you stop a diesel engine, it does tend to shake around a fair bit on its rubber mountings....my guess is that the clutch guy hasn't secured one of the under bonnet shields correctly, or maybe the splash shield right at the bottom is loose.
Its unlikely to be of great concern, but I'd certainly be taking a look round.
John :)

Turns out the exhaust heat protection cover had a clip broke. It had bend in prob from water spray and was close to it so was the exhaust banging off it. quick prod with the brush pushed it away so will stay away from those large puddles from now on.
