Cabinet door repair.

Hi all,
Below are pics of a cabinet door. The holes are where the hinges were attached. As you can see the wood has split so the screws no longer stay in. I am thinking of using thin screws into the edge of the door to close the split, then using slightly larger screws than the originals, maybe with glue as well, to re-attach the door.
Any thoughts or better solutions?

Move hinges 60mm further down , door looks a little on the thin side , needs to be at least 18mm for hinges .
Hinges are also too small.
