Can I just check with the more experienced of you?

I've been asked to supply and pull the cable for our controls contractor as he's stuck in Germany somewhere until Sunday and he has to go back on Tuesday so he only has half a day to commission a couple of new actuators we have. He left a message for me saying YY cable will be fine but nothing else and I can't get hold of him to check and I'm running out of time to do it.

Since it's 24v and 0.8VA, I'm guessing normal YY 0.75mm 6A cable should be fine shouldn't it? Can anyone tell me otherwise?

Cheers

Not enough information. YY cable does not seem to drop into any BS7671 categories and although I have used loads in the food industry and I considered it as a very handy flex where I wanted some protection I have also had problems with water ingress and rust completely eating through the brad.

Reading BS7671 it seems to suggest that all flex should be visible throughout it's length and if this is the case than any rust is also visible so not a problem.

but I have also had problems with German installations. Their YY cable has a copper core under the steel so if the cable does have water damage it will not remove earth from whole length. It also makes terminating easy. They is seems use free air between conduit lengths where we will fit bends and of course use reversible plugs.

To select a cable one needs to know:-
The Environment
The Voltage
The Current
You have only given the voltage and current so no one can answer the question. Also is the voltage separated? Is it AC or DC and if AC what frequency? Will there be an issue with the impedance of the cable.
