Hi, a bit of advice please - I am installing a new shower pump, rating 450W, 2.0 amps - would 3 amp mains cable be good enough for this - I know it should in theory but I am not sure of the tolerances. thanks.

Also, fitted an electric shower last year 10mm cable - checked by local P reg electrician. The ceiling switch broke recently & I had to replace it. Am I supposed to call him back again to recheck it? thanks.

Also, just scanning through the rest of the postings on shower pumps, mine comes complete with a 3 pin plug so I was planning to plumb the pump in under the bath & then run the cable to the nearest switched socket (outside the bathroom) rather than wire it permanently to the mains. I can easily replace the plug with an RCD. but I am wondering now (as the pump is permanent installtion due to the plumbing), if this is subject to part P as well?

Changing the broken shower isolator - Not a problem as long as you replace like-for-like.

As regards your shower pump, just because it has a plug on the end of it does not stop something from becoming 'fixed wiring' which is what part P refers to, so you'd be wise got get your electrician mate in (cheaper than LABC notification for a small job)

Otherwise people would be using these babys to get around part P.
