I am in the process of rewiring my house. Are there any regulations regarding the routing of lighting and ring main cables from the under stairs meter cupboard. At present the old rubber cables run in the cavity to the upstairs ceiling/floor void area. I know this method has been banned. Is it allowed to run the new cables up the underneath of the stairs to the ceiling void, perhaps in steel conduit? Thanks in advance,

Your local building control should appoint someone to oversee the rewire. That person will give you all the info you need
