one simple question. where is the measurement for swa csa taken from. ie a 240mm swa obvously does not have 240mm csa cores and so on with all larger swa sizes

The conductor cross-sectional area is how the conductor size is specified, so 240 sq mm is exactly what it says it is. That's about 17.5 mm diameter.
 
so when assessing earthing sizes which is usually half of phase conductor for main earth and then half again for bonding. on tns and tncs systems. that would equal 120mm main earth and 60mm or as close too for bonding
