Cabling from loft to lounge

You can drill a hole into the inner skin in the loft, and then in the lounge - but measure, measure, measure first.

OK - gave this a try. Went through (what felt like a hollow) grey breeze block then found the insulation - unfortunately the gap then seemed really small before getting to the next layer of brick (what I assume is the outside) - I would guess a gap of only about an inch making it pretty difficult to run something down there (particularly with the insulation).
