Hi fellas,

My cousin is an old skool painter and decorator and traditionally prices a job by the amount of time it'll take him to complete. He's been asked to quote for decorating a local school's classrooms, but the quote must be in price per metre.

I have an idea of how you would go about figuring that out as it seems simple enough, but he seems to think that there are industry standard units that you use when calulating the price..? With that in mind I though I'd ask you guys in here for any advice on how you would go about working this out as I dont want to get it wrong for him.

Many thanks in advance,

Phil

Gloss work is in linear metres ie skirting and frames. Doors i guess you price per unit and emulsion measure the sq metreage. There are some sites that have construction guide prices done in sqm and linear.

Have they all agreed how many metres they are quoting for? Pointless otherwise.
