sleepyhead,

Sorry to bother you, but having looked through some of the replies you seem to be the man with the knowledge. My Bosch dishwasher will not fill up and I've checked the inlet hose and the valve and they are fine. People have said to check the float switch but I can't locate it. I can't find a way into the machine either as the screws are star shaped and look designed to keep people out. Also where the inlet hose enters the machine at the back, someone said it might be blocked there but again i can't get into it. It's a white plastic section that looks removable because it has a slit in the side but I'm worried that i will snap it off if i use a screwdriver to prise it open. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated

From the description of the fault I suspect that the float in the level control is stuck and most likely there's a blockage.
You'll have to get some torx screwdrivers, get the top off and the left hand side panel off. Once you've got these off you'll see the float assembly at the bottom of the water management system.
While you're cleaning that out you'll also have to clean out the pipe going from the bottom of the tank to the bottom of the bowl.
No need to look at the valve yet.
