I’ve replaced basin in bathroom with a deeper one and find the waste outlet is too high for my fittings. Would it be ok to shorten the threaded part of the click waste by about 2 cm? All the parts are chrome brass so don’t want to change to plastic. Any ideas? Help please.

You could cut it but will need to cut square and flat so it seals to the trap

Yes you could use a dremel or similar to cut the waste down but you would need to leave enough thread for the trap to connect properly. Once cut you will need to flatten down the leading edge to ensure the threads engage properly when fitting the trap otherwise you could end up easily cross threading the connection.

Thanks Nige F and Madrab. Seems to have done the trick, Only just enough space so fiddly job. Alternative was flexi connection from trap to wall, think that's frowned on. Thanks again.
