Can a micro usb cable be connected to mains

Hi all

I have an outdoor camera which is powered off a micro usb cable. I am installing this under a floodlight and was wondering if there was any way I could connect it to the same junction box instead of running a separate power cable.

No. Mains is 240v AC. Camera power from a USB cable is 5v DC

yes it’s perfectly possible…….you just won’t have a working camera any more

If the lighting supply is permanent, you could run the cam off a wall wart.

But I would use PoE.
