We want matt porcelain floor tiles for a hall and kitchen.
Are all porcelain tiles an expensive option or could someone recommend a good brand that is reasonably priced and easy to get hold of?
Most of the ones we have seen in tile showrooms come from France, Italy or Spain which must add quite a bit to the cost.

You seem to have an odd idea of how tiles are generally retailed.

Because of their weight, pretty much all tiles are bought at local suppliers/retailers, who have catalogues of pictures and and samples of tiles. They stock, and can obtain, many brands of tiles.

If your local stockist can't supply what you want at the price that you want, then you need to negotiate the price down or increase your budget. If they simply can't supply what you want, then you need to go somewhere else.

B&Q were doing a good range of polished porcelain floor tiles recently for about £11 for 4 x 600mm tiles per very heavy pack. not sure about matt.

matt said its ok to buy them just check the batch numbers and b and q tend to mix their stock from time to time and not care to sort it out.

Thanks for your replies and info Matt and Fairbrother - we will look into B&Q because they are the only big DIY suppliers on Jersey.
