I would like to install a domestic power shower but I am unsure about the positioning of the pump. At present the shower is gravity fed from the cold tank and the hot water cylinder expansion pipe. Both feeds originate in the loft and travel across the rafters and then through the ceiling into the shower mixer. I understand that in a pumped situation the hot water feed should be taken from a surrey flange on top of the hot water cylinder. My question is can I place the pump in the loft above the hot water cylinder which is in a cupboard below on the landing?
The height of the pump above the top of the hot water cylinder would be in the order of 4.5 to 5 feet; the length of the pipe run from the pump to the mixer is 12 feet; the mixer valve is approx 4 feet below the pump.
