Hello
I am new to forums... Thank you in advance for any helpful information you give me, its appreciated.

I moved recently to a house that has 1 bathroom 1 en suite and 1 cloakroom, it is all gas central heating, the boiler is in the garage, and there is a water tank in an upstair cupboard, it is large and sealed, there is a small red tank also in the cupboard, I know its to do with the pressure etc.

My question is this, I want to move the small red tank to the ajacent wall, I have reasons for wanting to do this,,, I have a few issues around the whole system ie, if one shower is on and i flush the loo or turn on a tap somewhere, the shower goes off, I think the boiler needs replacing too, its ten years old and probably wont be efficient.... any advice will be greatly appreciated...

You should ne perfectly OK to move the expansion vessel on to an adjacent wall. However do not move the connection point to the system.

Your Hot water is part of a sealed system and so relies on the mains cold water supply to deliver both hot and cold water (no tank supply). A poor flow rate on the mains can have the effect you describe. There are a couple of ways you could improve the situation - get a better mains supply (ideally a bigger one) or revert to a open vented hot water system with a tank feed to the cylinder so hot water does not rely on the mains feed. You would then take a cold feed from the tank for the shower to get a balanced supply at that point. It would be unaffected by water main draw up so long as the tank has water in it!

Thank you for letting me know this, I think the boiler needs replacing as well, its 10 years old and so is probably not doing the best job..
