Hi Forum,

I'm currently stripping back to start decorating the hall-way, but the incoming BT line is mounted on the wooden framed door.

The intention is to burn off old paint and paint.

But to do this I'd need to remove the box rather than work-around it.

From the picture you can see the incoming black wire and the White cable leading to the master socket.

The box looks very old, so a replacement one would be good.
I'm with Sky so not sure BT would be interested in replacing it (if it ain't broke kind of thing)?

any thoughts on if it's safe to open up and prise off?

Thank you

Regards
Mark

yeah they are the old Bakelite fused boxes, but when the wire is renewed for modern type, the fuses are cut out and the box just becomes an enclosure so you should be able to remove it completely and leave the phone wires still connected.

nicely ask any Bt / openreach guy you if he'll give you a bt80.
