Can I remove this wall under my stairs

I want to remove this wall from under the stairs to open the whole space up. It’s brick wall. There is a cut down newel post at the bottom. Is this possible? Or would the staircase come down with it.

what you are proposing to do needs a joiner on site to give your proposal the once over.
you show a gate so perhaps you have kids. in which case the lack of a newel and rails is dangerous

The staircase runs should be holding it, so that wall should not be needed, IN THEORY.
However, to be sure you need to expose what's behind it, maybe remove a brick and flash a light in there.
