I've a Champion 40, fairly old and needs the recoil starter fixing, but runs OK. Space for it is a bit limited so I wondered if using some ladder-type hooks, I could hang it from the wall, nose-down... would this have any issues for fuel/oil?
BTW the issue with it is the coil-spring in the recoil starter has snapped. I can buy a whole new starter unit for £20 so is it worth trying to source the spring separately (I also need a new handle as it was replaced with a lump of wood)?
The springs can be fiddly to replace and if your not mechanically minded plus they can really create havoc if you make an error. Consider a thin sharp metal band uncoiling at speed. Much easier to simply buy a replacement recoil with the spring locked in.
