i have a plain 2 pane upvc window with opening on right, i need it on the left as the flue terminates 40cm away and have to get a new boiler fitted. Instead of getting an expensive and very attractive plume kit I think it would be better to just change the window, is it possible to simply turn the old one upside down. Might seem like an odd question but I need to save some money, freezing cold and didn't expect to have to buy a new boiler!
Hope someone can help, Thanks

i would say no as the drain holes are at the bottom outside but just a guess

ah yes, thats a good reason not too, maybe I'll just screw it shut then! or go get a new one, better idea

Drainage holes can be sealed with a heavy duty polymer silicone like soudal fix all and new ones drilled, just need to remove the locking mech and spin it over but that easy

yes handle hopefully won't be a problem, only thing I'm concerned about is the window ledge, will it be attached, going to be fun if I take window out and have to put it back in, I've done most things now but not window fitting. Since everything in this house is wrong or 2nd hand

If it's a newish window it will probably have a reverse butt weld if so it will not work

I assume he has a fixed pane and a side opener split 50/50. If it's an internally glazed window the fixed window will be glazed from inside so if he took the unit out to try and put an opening sash in there it will not open or it possibly will but only inwards

I think the plan is to take the whole window out and turn it upside down (with new drainage holes of course)

I'm scared now, decided to go for the plume kit and leave the window well alone. Thanks to everyone for advice. I am a girl (well middle aged woman) but I love this site, not shopping ha ha
