2) Does the light itself have an earth terminal? - no. There are two clearly marked holes under the base of the lamp where the live and neutral wires clip in - but the instructions say that there isn't an earth.
There are fitting instructions with the lamp which is why I thought it would be simple enough to do it myself, but the pull switch wasn't included and didn't come with any instructions.
