It isn't going to happen until the UK defaults on its debts - currently over £900 billion. Then there won't be a benefit system at all.

Western democracy is a popularity contest and any government that tries to bring in draconian cuts will be booted out of office for acting in an unpopular manner.

Whoever was elected to power was going to have to make cuts, everyoen knew that.

Furthermore, in five years time the voters wont remember. A week is along time in politics , five years is another world.
 
It's the scale of the cuts. They keep banging on about this 6 billion - we need cuts of 200 billion. Six billion is but loose change. We need to halve benefits and the NHS.
 
What have they done, apart from being on the same gravy train as the greeks etc.
