Can routers stop virus and malware ?

Interesting reply postings folks, many thanks.

So basically, routers handle electronic traffic and antivirus programs stop virus attacks on a PC.

I've used Avast for well over a decade but some seem to think it impedes a PCs performance.



I may be talking nonsense here, not being savvy with electronics, but could a virus attack a router's firmware?

Yes, and it's been known to happen.

No, you can't get anti-virus for them.
