Hi,

My mum and dads water tank has split, it’s a pressure vessel system, the tank that has split it the large water one, we have drained the hot water down, question is can they still use the central heating system whilst we wait for the new system to be fitted- they are going to go with a combi boiler now thanks

Depends on what type of system they have need more info, s / y plan , if so a feed could be capped off , also do not replace an unvented system ( if that’s actually what they have ) with a combi ,

Why not just turn it on and see - if you’re replacing the boiler, what have you got to lose?

Yes

to the OP's question

edit: assuming you mean an unvented cylinder has split and been drained
