Going potty with my double glazing guy changing his stance on this.

We have a 1.5m wide opening with an arch at the top. The front elevation on our house has astrical windows (external trim on the duplex windows).

I am being told one min that we can get astical bars then we cant and now he's saying we can only get astrical on the lower square part of the window but that the arched bit (imagine half semi circle at the top) has to be Georgian i.e. no astrical bars on the semi circle part.

Is he talking crap? If so, does anyone know who can supply the windows in astrical. Based in Hertfordshire / London.

Thanks

Can it be done? Possibly/probably but I haven't seen it and it will be expensive.
Here is a window I did recently with Arched frame bars (not Astragals)

Rainbow Archs or Universal archs are your best bet for a manufacturer if it can be done

Hi

Thanks for this. Looking at your photo, perhaps it is me who is getting this wrong and asking the guy the wrong question. If you were to put astrical bars (same as astragnal??) in that arched window in the photo, how would it look any different? Because I would have ordinarily considered the outer white frame bars running vertically and in that pattern design, to be astrical. What should I be asking him then to get this sort of effect but with a rainbow arch at the top?

Also is that glass one entire piece and are those white bar frames one entire piece of put in one piece snapped in at a time? Are there bars on the external side of the inside of the room and is there spacer bars in the middle of the glass to give a duplex appearance?

Nice window, what is a typical cost of that?

Astragal/Astical all the same things just my bad spelling I think. Astragal's are only about 20-30mm thick this window is whole frame bending with individual glass panes.

I fitted that one for about £1700 but I am a one man band with low overheads and at the time I was not VAT registered, I expect most company's would be quoting in the £2000-£2500 region.

Have a look at Universal arch's website http://www.universalarches.com/our-products/arches
I got that window from Rainbow archs as they were about £300 cheaper but I don't think their website is as good

Thanks again, very useful to know. I have already spoken to universal arches a while ago but they only bend the profiles they don't deal with the glass.

Are you able to briefly answer the other questions as that will help set my mind straight.
