Can you identifiy the pipe going to my rads

I want to move a rad ,so i would have to move some pipe work.Some of the pipe work is a grey metal.When i had a new boiler fitted a few years back the intaller called it (????? Zinc) i cant remember the first word.Can i soldier normally to this
I tried looking for some info but no luck

The grey pipe is 15mm .my 22mm pipes are copper.
The plumber called it something Zinc ,Im sure he said copper got expensive so they used this stuff for a while

that stuff can be really difficult to cut. if its got a black seam down one side its a nightmare.

i dont think it solders well. use compression fittings

I might put temp pipe work to the rads and renew to 15mm copper back to the 22mm when i redecorate each room

I'd agree with Kev, it will be iron pipe coated with zinc and you can't solder it. (In fact its not suitable for welding either due to the zinc) The way the pipe is made also means the outside surface has a poor surface finish and compression fittings are also not suitable. The only way to join galvanised iron pipe is by screw threads.

i dont think its iron i think its that awful stainless steel looking stuff.

i took 4 hacksaw blades to get through one 22mm pipe.
