can you lay carpet over solid wood flooring??

i have a 18mm floating engineered wooden floor in my lounge. Is there any reason i cannot have underlay and carpet fitted over it, apart from height issue? It is solidly glued together and has been down for at least 10 years.
Would expansion be an issue?
 
Many thanks, even with a solid concrete floor underneath?
