Hi this is my first post so go easy.

I purchased an element for my bosch washing machine from ebay not a genuine part. It said it would fit my model, so I fitted it and it felt quite easy to push in I tightened the nut and put it all back together, started the machine and it started leaking. So I found one side of the element had been pushed out so took it out and could see that the rubber had started to push over the bottom clamp. So I phone the company that I bought it off and first of all the chap said there wasnt any rubber on it and then once I explained how it worked he said it has been over tightened!! I couldn't believe my ears. So my question is can you over tighten the nut??

Think he just doesn't want to send me a replacement

kind regards
charlie

One of the reasons I don't buy from eBay, quite possible it is slightly distorted and so not fitting correctly don't be tempted to use any kind of silicone on it that tends to make rubber washers move even more.

I would go for a genuine Bosch spare, no doubt at least twice the price but how often do you have to change one?

Hi thanks for the replies I have given it another try and tightened it up as much as I dare, and it seems to be holding the fit is not very good. If it goes again I'll bite the bullet and buy a genuine part.
