Hi,

I have had some leaks in my roof, the ceiling 'anaglypta' wall paper has sagged and stained (I have lath and plaster), I have cut this out in small sections ready to wall paper and paint at a later date, there are also some re-plastered patches where 'feet' have come through from the loft upstairs (we are installing one).
As a temporary measure can I simply sand the plaster and paint emulsion direct to the plaster (old and replaced) - then paper over this at a later date.

Yes you can. Don't sand too hard unless the plaster has not been properly finished - just enough to remove any rough edges. Thin the first coat of emulsion with 10% water. When fully dry apply a second coat full strength.

When you come to paper use a decent adhesive. I've always been happy with Solvite but I daresay someone else may have different opinions on that.

Thanks, the temporary solution is in case my roof springs another leak, when its all back on then we'll do it properly.
Agree with the Solvite, a good quality paste.
