I have a 6 arm ceiling light in my Living room. When it was fit some 25 years ago, the electrician put a slide in fitment on the ceilings & the light itself slides out and off the ceiling completely for cleaning. I want to change it and don't know what the fitting is called - or, if they are still made any more. If not I will need to change the fitment. Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks so much absolutely perfect! Can I just ask something really stupid? Can I use this for something that isn't a huge drop down pendant? Hoping to put something flusher to the ceiling with LED lights?

They do protrude from the ceiling about 3 ins to the bottom of the hook so might not suit

Thankyou. I have another stupid question - sorry! This doesn't have a hook. It has a brass threaded rod with the light attached to that. What is the hook for? Told you it was stupid!

There are other plug in ceiling rose fittings available these days which might suit. They do need to be fitted to a circular back box.

The hook is for a hanging chain and flex goes through the hollow middle. But if you have a tube fitting the hook unscrews and the rod screws in

Although these are discontinued, there are others

I use the old rose as I want the hook, the tube if that type replaces the hook, I have a spare somewhere, so can measure thread size, but want the spare as already use two of them, so unless you can find one, no point.

A ceiling rose according to BS 7671 should be able to take 5 kg, (559.6.1.5 Fixing of the luminaire) but I would not want to hang that on most, so most have a fixing next to ceiling rose for heavy chandeliers.

In my kitchen, I have a couple of LED dome light fittings, which use a similar principle. One failed a few years ago, luckily, I bought spares. Only took a second to slide the failed unit out, and slide in a replacement.
