Integrated LED ceiling lights - best to avoid?

I never really like the idea but for my kitchen round light panels were ideal as they are only about 2-3cm deep and give a really even light so much so that I no longer need under cabinet lighting.

I'm guessing youve brough high quality leds so they should last a long time. cheap ones will last a good while but the more expensive ones will last longer

If only, bitter experience seems to be, more they cost the more the manufacturer makes in profit. There are of course exceptions.

The fittings I installed in the hall and landing here ate 4 sets of G9 LEDs at a cost of way over £50 in a very short time, the irony is I started buying very cheap things off ebay and haven't replaced one yet in something like 5 years

I ave a light fitting that takes G9 bulbs and I too have experienced failures on them. I dont think they can make reliable G9 leds

I got 5 of the cheap larger LEDs shown here, after the smaller ones were flashing, when switched off. One failed, so ordered 4 more, but opened the bulb out of interest, found a dry joint, resoldered and put back in use, that was some 3 years ago, and still working.

I don't recall the sequence but I tried some cheapies, Philips, Energiser and another known make which I can't recall. IIRC the Philips and energiser were something in the order of £3 each and if so; 3 fitting with 3 each made £54. I'd resigned myself to the purgatory of unreliable lighting and refitted a pendant upstairs leaving the 6 downstairs. The final cheapies are something ridiculous like 10 for £5 and checking now I still have 4 spares.
