Hi

I have just bought a van and will sell my car. The insurance company (Bell) don't do van insurance so I can't transfer the policy.

The car insurance runs out on 1st May '11. To cancel it, it will cost me approx. £55. This is more than the money left on the policy.

I was thinking of just letting it run out, but is there any issue about having this insurance but no longer owning the car??

Any help, much appreciated.

No problem at all. You will find that the insurance will probable technically be invalid as you no longer own the vehicle but in itself it wont be a problem.

What you may find a problem is that you normally can only have your no claims discount with one provider. So when you buy your van you might not be able to transfer your no claims unless you do cancel the old policy. I would speak with a prospect van insurer to let them know of the situation.
