Planted last May, then ignored over the winter... Multiple frosts and it does not look happy! But, green at base.... Is there hope?? Should I cut back all dead leaves? Any advice gratefully received!

If there is a sign of life (green) then you might be lucky just doing what you suggest before they start to rot and finish it off completely.

The ones we had on the drive to our allotment were about 8ft high and had been there a few years. They all died in the frost. Best to wrap them up for winter.
