We are buying an ex-local authority semi, and cannot find the inspection chamber anywhere! We dont even know if it has one to be honest. How do we find out if there is one and if so, where it is? The current owners have swept the driveway (where neighbouring properties seem to have theirs) and found nothing. There are no extensions/conservatories on the house, so if it is present, it cant have been built over.
Thanks!

Have you actually checked under your neighbours inspection cover? Your property may drain directly into that! Could it be under the driveway :?:

It may quite be possible your property doesnt have a chamber. Generally if all the others do, then id be surprised if you didnt. Check the neighbours, if every house has one, then its likely you do, if there is a pattern, i.e. every 3rd or 4th house has one, then maybe you dont. Metal dectector is one option, or gently stabbing the ground with a road pin or similar along the presumed line of the sewer to locate a cover sometimes works.

Ive worked on local authority properties where there is one pit every 4th house, can be a nightmare trying to find point of blockage, and a lot of rods to get to it! Best of luck!
