Do I need planning permission to install a canopy at the front of my house, that would be for the whole lenght of the house, and about 1.50m metres towards the front.

I though the front was the back? Nah, just messing

If the front or back "fronts a highway" then you will need permission. Note that a highway can be a footpath not just a road

You probably need to get some comment from your local planners

well according to my grumpy neighbour it is the back, but no definitely the front, have a look at the link and you can even go on the other side and see the confusion. what you see when you click on the link is the front , go on the other side and that's the back but used as the front by everybody
